What is the SAT

The SAT is a standardized test widely known for college admissions as its one of the things that colleges look at. It is tested mostly on your critical reading, understanding of writing, and also your mathematics skills. Even though most colleges and universities are starting to go test-optional, you should take this test and try to get above a 1400 out of the 1600 score limit. Here are a few ways to get that high score.

Ways to improve the SAT

Ok, so now you know what the SAT is, now you should focus on trying to find a way to get that high score. There are a lot of ways to not just get a high score but also to help you improve your score if you need it.

The first way to start helping you get a high score is to use Khan Academy. Khan Academy is one of the best resources to use when prepping for the SAT as it brings not just videos to help prep for it but also has multiple practice tests and practice problems. It also gives tips and suggestions on which you should practice more on. You can use it many times and best of it, it is free. They have resources to help you with particular parts of the test and videos to teach you ideas that can be able to get a higher score. Keep trying this technique until for around 2-4 practice tests and you get a 1400+.

Another way you can get ready for the SAT is by doing practice tests that are released on CollegeBoard and try getting into the mood and practicing how to overcome many aspects of the SAT. Try to print out the test, and sit down in a room without any distractions, phones, etc. Then take the test with a timer and try your best to answer all the questions instead of worrying about getting all the right answers. You need to work on understanding that this test can't have a perfect grade, it's a rare chance so you need to do the best you can and get the most questions correct. After taking the first practice test, check the answer key and see what questions were right or wrong. Then take notes on each question about what went wrong and how you can improve it.

Getting scores and what to focus on

Ok, so you prepare and did the test and now you see your score. If you get a 1400 or higher, congrats, and if you did not, don't worry about it. You can take this test multiple times until the first semester of your senior year. After you see your score, if you want to get a higher score then focus more on the section in which you are struggling in. If it's the reading section, practice more on the reading section with some examples above. If it was the math section, you are struggling with then try to do more practice problems or ask your math teacher to help you as well.

Conclusion

Getting a high SAT is quite difficult but not impossible. Unlike the tests you may take in class, you get a redo for each test you take. You don't need to worry about not doing well on the first one. Just keep on practicing daily and working on your mistakes and get that high score.
